MGMT Vol.4

Happy Monday all! I had one of the most fun nights of my life this past weekend during our Spa 'N Spill nite!

Thanks to all the ladies who came and participate....to Chef Nita who cooked an awesome meal (first time I ate pasta made from SCRATCH and ain't comin' out of 'Great Value' 89cent box), Yanti for letting us practically destroy your house, Ju & Ka for snapping pics, Ika, Nana, Windy, Sara and basically all of us: the best "TPE" (Total Pampering Experience" crews :)

We should totally do this again!

(stay tuned for a 'weekend-long' spa n spill event!)

I also heard the dudes had a blast at their 'TPE' event :) :)

Glad APER (TOUR) is postponed cause like Nana's blog said: this truly is the oddest winter in the ATL!

Can't wait for APER TOUR on Apr 18!

The beginning of an end: Atlanta's Oddest Winter Season

After staying home for 2 days attempting to cure what seemed like a pollen allergy (my first time getting it ever!), I decided to step outside for lunch today.

Unexpectedly, I was greeted by a wonderful 59 degree-weather that feels like..., well, 59 degree!!

It was beautiful and sunny - albeit a hint of chilly winter breeze.

But after surviving an unusually long (and cold and wet) winter, who am I to complain? According to a recent AJC article, this past winter "will be remembered for its long periods of below-normal temperatures." No kidding! We Georgians are used to wearing flip-flops during wintertime!

Unfortunately, on the article WSB-TV meteorologist David Chandley also said that we will see above-normal rainfall through April and below-normal temperatures. Nyeah -- more rain :(

Sigh...While it puts an end towards the drought that our lovely Atlanta had suffered from the past few years, I still have mixed-feelings about this one. Mainly cause we're supposed to have our awesome Aper[TOUR] this Sunday...but the chance of rain is 50-50. Grrr... ;)

Anyways, just wanted to highlight some "lowlights" from the winter of 2009-2010:

Dec. 25 – Atlanta recorded 1.8 inches of rain on Christmas Day (we were disappointed cause the weathermen predicted WHITE Christmas but instead it turned out to be a WET Christmas)

Jan. 8, 9 – The coldest days of the winter. The afternoon high on Jan. 8 was only 31, and the following morning, the mercury plunged to a numbing 13 degrees before reaching an afternoon high on Jan. 9 of just 32.

Jan. 25 – The wettest day of the winter. The 2.75 inches of rain that fell was also a record for the date.

Feb. 12 – The snowiest day of the winter. Atlanta's official recording station at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport reported 3.6 inches of snow. (YEah - on second thought - we'll settle for a WHITE Valentine's!! ^__^)

Stay tuned to see whether we need to re-schedule the Aper[TOUR]...(I know, I know...)

This is why YOU are the Generation of Light

"Who? ME?" you asked.

Yep, YOU. Just read 1 Peter 2:9 that says:
"But YOU are a CHOSEN generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a purchased people: that you may show forth the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvellous light."

You see, you've been chosen even before you were born. Jesus has died for you (and for me, too!) and shed His Holy Blood on the Cross thousands of years ago to purchase us from this hopeless world and GAVE us the power to conquer the darkness and be the Royal Priesthood, the Holy Nation, the Generation of Light that He created us to be!

"Whoa wait a second. You said the "H" word there. That definitely doesn't apply to me," you said.

You mean Holy?

"Yes, HOLY. I ain't holy. Have never been, will never be," you said. "If you knew what I did in the past, you'd agree with me."

But let me just ask you this: Did you know that most of the greatest and most celebrated Bible characters had less-than-stellar past/limitations???

Peter (who wrote the above passage, btw) denied Jesus 3 times before He died on the cross. The Great Apostle Paul was an Anti-Christ and killed so many Christians in his early life. Joseph was a slave before he became the 2nd most powerful person in Egypt after pharaoh. Our fave kings David and Solomon were generational womanizers. Jonah was a COWARD. Prophet Elijah was depressed and suicidal. Moses was the worst public speaker. Ruth was a widow. Queen Esther was just another pretty face. Leah was UGLY -- while Sarah, Hannah, and Rachel were barren. Mary Magdalene was...well, you know, "that" kind of gal. Lazarus was DEAD. Zacchaeus was greedy and short. Joseph (Jesus' Dad) was a poor, poor carpenter***

...and yet? The Lord God poured His mercy and grace upon them.. so that they became the man and woman He originally created them to be: joyfully shared the Good News and changed the world, powerful leader, beautiful sons and daughters of a King, stands out and respected amongst the rest, full of mercy and loving-kindness towards others, lived a righteous life, and -yes- HOLY.

Not because they did all the right things, obviously, - but because they accepted the Mercy and Grace that God has for them.

Not because they are all that to begin with- but because they understood that Jesus' blood gave them the power to overcome sins and weaknesses of this dark world we live in.

~***~

So if you're still struggling with sins, weaknesses, depression, wrong habits, bad relationships, self-image, characters, etc...remember this: the Lord God, the same One who did wonders with the lives of the people listed above, is NOT done with you yet.

So go ahead -- don't be afraid to SH!NE. You have ALREADY been CHOSEN as the Generation of Light anyways...and NOTHING you did or do are bad enough to change the fact that JESUS has already proven HIS mighty love for you on that Cross.

So SH!NE on... and shout out HIS excellencies and GOODNESS wherever you go! Other people need to know this, too, you know! :)

CANIS LUPUS

I am a super (translation: OVERLY) proud mom of a 7-year old (going on 35) boy, Nathaniel. If you all know me....you'll notice that I brag about him a whole lot! I am so blessed to have a kid who is super smart, super cute, and super everything (there I go again with the braggin'!) Don't hate though.....when you got kids of your own, you'd probably be a worse 'bragger' than me....:)

My point is, even if I think so so highly of him, there are days that he surprises me with stuff that makes me think: "there is NO way this kid is that smart. He can't be!"

This conversation is one of those "I Can't Believe" moments:

Nathan: Mom, do you know what CANIS LUPUS is?

Me: huh?

Nathan: CANIS LUPUS! (loudly)

Me: huh?

Nathan: Mom!

Me: huh?

Nathan: *&^%^&%(%(%grrrrrrrrr........**#*&%^%^

Me and Vina: That's LATIN right?

Nathan: Yeah, D.U.H! (like we're supposed to know!)

Me and Vina: yeah....hmm....we don't do Latin

Nathan: It means Wolfy type-Dog (its more popular name is Gray Wolf)..Dog is canis, Wolf is Lupus. I wikipedia'd it, and found that most scientists argued that this type of animal does not exist. But some believes that it exists. I think it should exist. You guys know what a HYBRID is right??

Me and Vina: (huge sigh of relief like: we ain't that ignorant!) YEAAAA!! we know!! It's mixed...

Nathan: Thank God you know what it is. Yeah I think they Canis Lupus is a Hybrid thing.

(The whole time I am thinking: can he be that smart?? who in the world wikipidea'd anything at 7???? I can't tell the difference between a dog and a wolf at 11, and I thought I was smart)

What do I learn from this little (yet very intimidating) conversation?

Sometimes I also think of God in this way. In my heart, I ALWAYS know that His love and grace for me are so real; that He is really the One who died for me, who made me righteous, who promised to hold my hand through everything good and bad, and made me the kid of a KING!

However, there are times when He (seemingly) tried to convince me that He is good, that all He wants for my life are nothing but GREAT AND AWESOME things, I would step back and think: CAN HE BE THIS GOOD TO ME? IS IT POSSIBLE? I mean, after all the things I put Him through....is it possible that He still wants to love me that much, bless me that much?

It just seems TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.

But I want to remind myself and all of us, that He is NOT too good to be true.

HE IS SIMPLY GOOD. AND TRUE. PERIOD.

But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved (Ephesians 2:4-5).

MGMT (Mama Goose's Monday Thoughts): 1st Volume

Happy Snowy Monday y'all!

Welcome to GOL: uNskripted!! I am really excited about this blog 'cause I know that it will be a place for us to share thoughts, feelings, testimonies, etc....Please feel free to be post items (be positive and creative!).

While this blog is our FUN ZONE, the ultimate purpose of uNskripted is to let the world know what GOL is all about and what we are so excited to do: that is to make a difference, to shine our light!

Shout out to Nana for starting the blog!!!!!!! For any questions, contact THE Editor-In-Chief, Mmselle Avina :)

Alrite, with that said....

Welcome to the 1st volume of "MGMT" (Mama Goose's Monday's Thoughts)

For those of you who missed last nite's GOL, I wanna do a quick recap.

Ps. Herman from GOL Jakarta was our guest of honor!! yeaaayy.....He totally made my day 'cause when he said he was about to be 41 years old, I was sooo psyched to find out someone in GOL community is actually older than me!!

Anyways, he shared such an amazing message about going UP! in our walk with Jesus (with snippets from UP! the movie).

It gave all of us a clear cut vision, that as believers, all we have to do is take His hand, choose to believe in His unending grace, and we will have a purposeful and fruitful life.

A couple awesome points he made:
  • We need to start SHIFTING our focus from ourselves to Him and what He's done for us

  • When we focus on ourselves, it is HARD to be a Christian. But if we focus on Him, it gets so much easier!

  • Don't dwell in our failed attempts in life: WE ARE NOT A LOSER/FAILURE, but failures happen in life....use each of our failed attempt as a 'compost' (Indo: pupuk) so we can do better and rise above

  • Always remember that He loves us for who we are, just as we are. We serve Him not to EARN His love, grace and approval. We serve Him as a token of gratitude of His ultimate sacrifice, and all the things He has done in our lives.

So, I hope y'all have an awesome week....and stay tuned for more MGMT!
